RS-232 Flow Control for CR1000

LarryT Apr 16, 2014 12:53 PM

Greetings!

Is there any reason to use flow control, either hardware or software, with the CR1000? The modem template provided by CSI for the Sierra Wireless LS300 has no flow control, and this works fine for the CR200. The CR1000 will not connect however, and I wonder if the flow control is the problem. The LS300 is set to 115200,8,N,1 and the connection is done with a serial cable and null modem adapter.

This should be a very easy connection to establish and has worked with other loggers in the past with no problem but the CR1000 is just not connecting. Any ideas??

Thanks,

Larry

Larry,

You shouldn't need flow control. My bet is that it is a baud rate mismatch. The CR200 connects to the modem at 9600 baud. The RS-232 port on the CR1000 is capable of working much faster. Try setting the baud rate of the CR1000's RS-232 port to 9600 baud fixed (no minus sign). Then connect the CR1000 to the modem and give it a try. It should connect.
