We want to use CR200, 034B, HC2S3, CS300.
We would like to know what is the furthest distance we can set 034B (wind speed and wind direction sensor), HC2S3 (temperature and relative humidity probe) and CS300 (Pyranometer) from our data logger (we’re planning to use CR200)?
Is it feasible to install these sensors at 200ft (60m)from the CR200 data logger?
Hi,
What problem you have to solve with cable extensions on the sensors. Probably with the cost of the cables, you can buy a wireless system for the serial port. Sensor cables minimized, improves the measures. Cables longer length, also the excellent quality, always induce errors (especially with output sensors of a few mV) and also surge. You must also extend the cable for power? Also here you can generate errors noise and surges.
Do everything to keep cables short!

Hello Smile and everybody else who is reading this,
Thank you for your response. Could you tell me please do you have any experience where cable length induced errors. We actually would like measure temperature, humidity and solar radiation near the data logger, so we won't need longer cables for those, but we need to place the wind sensor at some height (to be exact 200ft.). We are open for suggestion for different wind sensor.
It might be useful to read this technical document "Preventing and Attacking Measurement Noise Problems" in the support section/document in the CSI website, there are references in the bibliography, too. There are usefull information in CR200 manual, and in particular for the most advanced loggers like CR1000, that compared to CR200, has a best accuracy, resolution and differential channels.
For an anemometer with a lot of cable, a valid option is WindSonic with the SDI-12 protocol, it use digital output and measurements are immune to noise due to the length of the cable.
