Hello,
I setup some new stations to a new LoggerNet server for some existing stations we are adding to this server. The existing stations have CR800's and I can connect to them with Connect and the Device Utility but they will not update the Table Definitions. If I try to use the reset table definitions function, it hangs up the connection. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Larry
Depending upon your version of LoggerNet, you can "Associate a TDF file" with the datalogger -- Connect window, Datalogger | Associate Program.
The TDF file is created by CRBasic when the datalogger program is compiled (again, you'll need a "newer" version of LoggerNet/CRBasic Editor for this). TDF = Table Definition File.
When a TDF is associated with the station, rather than requesting the full Table Definitions from a datalogger, LoggerNet will request a table definition summary file. The summary returned by the datalogger is compared with the TDF file that was associated with the datalogger. If there are any differences, LoggerNet requests only the information for the table(s) that are different.
The result in all this is that the amount of traffic going between LN & the datalogger is reduced significantly (table defs are pretty hefty size-wise -- the Status table has a lot of fields).
How are you connecting to the datalogger? If via RF radios, you can reduce the packet size in LoggerNet's setup screen, along with the packet size in the datalogger. This results in smaller "chunks" being sent, and may result in more successful communication if the radios are the issue.
