File transfer Speed with GPRS connection

HelioLab Jun 27, 2014 01:15 PM

Hello

I transfer files with Device Configutration Utility through a GPRS connection between a CR3000 and a PC.

The theoretical speed is 115200 bauds and the observed speed is rather 8000 to 12000 bauds. Is there something to tune in any element (CR3000, SC105, Fastrack Supreme modem) ?

No, the modems you are using are 2G modems (I do not think the old Fasttrack supported Edge...sometimes called 2.5G which is a bit faster).

The maximum speed you can expect for downloading data from a logger is perhaps up to 20 kbits per second but that is very much network and signal dependent. Worst case, for instance if the local cell is busy, the network will drop back to around 10 kbits per second.

Unfortunately, 2G networks are setup with a bias for a higher speed in the opposite direction, but even then they are not that fast.
