Q: I’m getting ready to talk to an Application Engineer at Campbell Scientific about a problem communicating with my datalogger. What information should I have ready?

A: The more prepared you are, the easier it will be to get your problem solved.
At a minimum you’ll want to know:
* What datalogger you’re working with. CR1000, CR200, CR5000, CR10X…
* How your computer communicates with the datalogger. USB to serial, Ethernet, cellular modem…
* What sensors you have.
* What software you’re using. LoggerNet, LoggerNet Admin, PC400, PC200W…
* What else is connected to the datalogger?
You’ll also want a copy of:
* The datalogger program,
* Wiring diagram,
* Network schematic,
* LoggerNet’s settings (see Tip below),
* Datalogger settings,
* Communication device settings, and
* Network Planner model file.

Tip: Backup your network settings in LoggerNet from the Setup screen, Backup | Manual Backup. In PC400 and PC200W you’ll find it under Network | Backup/Restore Network. Generally, the Application Engineer does not need your data cache; this can make for a very large file.
