Remote access to LoggerNet on another Windows PC

igsfieldtech Sep 23, 2015 07:51 PM

Hi there.

I am trying to connect to one of my site's LoggerNet from my organization's main LoggerNet server at the office. The computer I want to connect to is running LoggerNet 3.4.1 with a MD485 RS-485 Multidrop Interface that is communicating with two dataloggers nearby. We currently display real-time weather on a website using the RTMC web development program for all of our sites with deployed modems very easily, but this PC has been almost impossible to connect to!

At the office we are using LoggerNet 4.2.1 and RTMC Pro 4.1.1.

I am able to remotely connect to the desktop of the site computer using its IP address and so I went ahead and in LoggerNet clicked "allow remote connections" under the options tab. I read online that the default port for Windows is 6785. So, at the office LoggerNet I typed in the IP:6785 hoping that when I clicked connect it would now work but to no avail...

Any suggestions on how to connect?

Thanks much!

The default port for LoggerNet is TCP port 6789. 6785 is the default port used for PakBus/TCP Communications.

Be warned that the LN 3.4.1 clients will probably not be able to successfully communicate with e LN 4.2.1 server.

Thank you! I understand that I may not be able to connect but I have a few more questions in hopes that it will.

The person before me tried to connect to the PC LN by adding it as an IPPort > PakBusPort_X > CR1000. However, my question is, why is the chosen device a 'CR1000'? The PC is communicating with TWO dataloggers via multidrop, so I am confused why this would ever work. It looks like the person was treating the site like a modem with a single datalogger. I feel like I should be trying to connect with a different type of device that is offered in the drop down list... but I am not sure which one.
