Overview
The CC640 camera is designed and built to withstand harsh, remote conditions. It operates at temperatures as low as -40°C. It can operate as a stand-alone camera or it can be connected to one of our data loggers. The camera can store images on a CompactFlash card or transmit them to a data logger.
Technical Description
The CC640 is a digital camera for use in harsh environments. Where typical cameras cannot withstand cold temperatures, our CC640 digital camera operates at temperatures as low as -40°C!
The CC640 can be used by itself as a stand-alone camera or can be connected to one our data loggers. The data logger can trigger an image acquisition by applying a 5- to 12-volt signal. When used independently, the camera's precision real-time clock can be used to trigger an image capture.
Images can be stored on a CompactFlash card or in the data logger's memory. The images are stored in a .jpg format.
Benefits
- Stores images in standard .jpg format
- Onboard slot for CompactFlash card
- Can be controlled by data logger or by internal timer

(7)18549
CC Camera or PWD22 Mounting Kit
The 18549 mounts the 18543 enclosure to a CM202-series crossarm.
OrderableCABLE5CBL
5-Conductor 22 AWG Cable with Drain
The CABLE5CBL is recommended for connecting the CC640 with an MD485 (see below). This 22 AWG, five-conductor cable has a Santoprene jacket and an aluminum Mylar shield.
OrderableCABLE3CBL
3-Conductor 22 AWG Cable with Drain
The CABLE3CBL is used for power and pulse connections. This 22 AWG, three-conductor cable has a Santoprene jacket and an aluminum Mylar shield.
OrderableMD485
RS-485 Multidrop Interface
The MD485 is an intelligent RS-485 interface that increases the distance allowed between the CC640 and the datalogger.
Orderable15966
Wall Charger with Barrel Plug
The 15966 is typically used when an MD485 is at the PC where ac power is available. This ac/dc transformer accepts inputs from 90 to 260 Vac @ 47 to 63 Hz, then outputs 12 Vdc @ 880 mA for use by the MD485.
Orderable14291
Field Power Cable, 12 Vdc Plug to Pigtail
At the datalogger site, the MD485 is powered by the datalogger. Older dataloggers or dataloggers that are using the RS-232 port to communicate with the MD485 require the 14291 Field Power Cable to power the MD485 via the datalogger.
Orderable6536
4-Wire Surge Protector Base Kit
When used with the MD485, the 6536 4-Wire Surge Protector helps suppress electrical transients that may be carried along the transmission line. The 6536 includes a Joslyn box to cover the connections.

Compatibility
Enclosure/Mounting
The camera must be installed in an environmentally sealed enclosure that offers protection from moisture or high humidity. It is also recommended that desiccant be installed in the camera enclosure to absorb excess humidity. Failure to install or replace the desiccant as required may cause malfunctions or damage the camera.
The 18543 CC640 Camera Enclosure completely encloses the camera and has a window through which images are acquired. The 26140 Heater Kit is offered to prevent the enclosure’s window from frosting over. The enclosure attaches to a CM202, CM204, or CM206 crossarm via the 18549 Mounting Kit.
Software
LoggerNet version 3.1.3 or higher is required.
Data Logger Considerations
The CC640 is compatible with any PakBus data logger that has 2 Mbytes or greater of on-board memory. The data logger must have a current Operating System.
