The SVP48 is a DIN rail bracket that holds up to 22 of the 8206 surge protectors. This bracket mounts to the backplate of our standard enclosures. The 8206 protects a data logger against electrical transients conducted along the sensor cables.
Read MoreThe SVP48 DIN rail bracket holds up to 22 of the 8206 surge protectors. Each 8206 is ordered as a separate line item. The DIN rail attaches to an enclosure backplate via two mounting holes that are spaced 6 in. (15.2 cm) apart, center-to-center.
The 8206 protects a data logger against electrical transients conducted along the sensor cables. The surge protectors trigger at 110 Vac or 156 Vdc; voltages exceeding those levels are shunted to ground. The surge protectors are rated for 125 Vac or 177 Vdc. The voltage limitation is 650 V at 1 kV/microsecond. Each surge protector protects one signal conductor and provides a termination for one shield wire.

Yes. There is surge protection built into the sensor electronics. The sensor survives a surge of 2 kV at 42 ohm line-to-ground on digital I/O and 2 kV at 12 ohm line-to-ground on power. It also survives a surge of 2 kV at 2 ohm line-to-ground on the rods.
If additional surge protection is required, consider using the SVP100 Surge Voltage Protector DIN Rail with Mounting Hardware.
