Overview
The Granite™Chassis is a platform for housing a complete GRANITE system. The Granite Chassis can hold up to eight modules, which may include the DAQ (Granite™10, Granite™9, or Granite™6), and additional GRANITE measurement modules. Portability and protection are fundamental to the design, delivering optimal system performance in demanding conditions—especially when heat must be dissipated quickly. Up to five panel faces (four top, one rear) can be customized to mount a wide variety of connectors, providing rapid connection to the DAQ system, which is ideal for time-sensitive or repetitive testing applications. As a GRANITE system scales to larger arrays of sensors and supporting GRANITE modules, several additional Granite Chassis can be daisy-chained to expand the GRANITE DAQ network. With the optional 38822 Rackmount, Slide-Rail Kit, the Granite Chassis can be easily mounted in a standard four-post server rack cabinet.

Technical Description
The Granite Chassis is ideal for high-performance applications such as high-speed DAQ, large-channel-count DAQ, structural health monitoring, distributed data acquisition, vehicle testing, charging large battery banks, and when using sensors or auxiliary system components that draw significant power. An automated thermal management system efficiently controls and dissipates heat incrementally to suit a range of dynamic operating conditions.
The Granite Chassis provides a very rugged framework that consolidates GRANITE measurement modules and provides physical protection in industrial environments. It includes connections for easy power distribution to measurement modules and/or additional Granite Chassis—whether they are collocated or mounted distantly. The onboard battery and the ability to add external battery banks make the GRANITE family of products perfectly suited for off-grid, solar-powered systems; locations where on-grid systems may be susceptible to frequent downtime; and critical applications that require absolute reliability in monitoring, notification, and/or control capabilities.
Panels designed for customization are made of 5052 aluminum and can be modified as desired. (Note: Modifications should occur while the panel is removed from the Granite Chassis.) Alternatively, custom panels can be designed and fabricated. Contact Campbell Scientific to discuss this customization, as well as installing and terminating the wiring of custom connectors to GRANITE modules for a complete plug-and-play system that is tailored to your specific application.

The Granite™Volt 108 is a general-purpose, multiplexed analog measurement module. Designed specifically for static measurement applications, it can also be used for dynamic measurements up to 10 to 100 Hz depending on the application. The Volt 108 supports all standard analog sensor measurements and easily expands the GRANITE™ data-acquisition system. The Volt 108 has eight differential or 16 single-ended input channels and two excitation channels. It provides a 12 V and a switched 12 V port and two switched 5 V ports for peripheral control.

The Granite™Volt 116 is an analog input module that allows you to easily expand your Campbell Scientific data acquisition system. The Volt 116 has 16 differential or 32 single-ended input channels and four excitation channels. It provides two 12 V ports and two switched 12 V ports for powering your peripherals, as well as four switched 5 V ports for peripheral control. The Volt 116 features a 24-bit, analog-to-digital converter and a low-noise, analog front-end to provide you with superior analog measurements. This module also supports period average measurements and includes both current and voltage excitation channels.

The Granite™Temp 120 is a purpose-built thermocouple measurement module. It has 20 thermocouple inputs using universal-alloy miniature thermocouple jacks. The Temp 120 is made to handle extreme temperature environments and rapid thermal gradients applied to the measurement module. It has a dedicated temperature reference for every input terminal and is carefully designed to reduce temperature errors in the presence of external temperature gradients.

Performance SLA Battery, 8 Ah 12 V AGM
The 34780 is a 12 V 8 Ah battery that is installed in the Granite™Chassis. This sealed rechargeable performance battery has 15.24 cm (6 in.) leads and connector. The battery's absorbed glass mat (AGM) design and metal casing are among its features that deliver exceptional reliability with minimal maintenance, resulting in a much longer life than conventional sealed lead acid batteries. The 34780 can be purchased as a replacement and is user replaceable.
