EE181
EE181
OrderableAir Temperature and Relative Humidity Sensor
Overview
The EE181 is a rugged, accurate air temperature and relative humidity (RH) probe that is ideal for long-term, unattended applications. It includes a proprietary coating on the RH element that increases the life of the element and protects it from dirt, dust, salt, or other contaminants. A 1000 Ω PRT measures air temperature for the -40° to +60°C range. For optimum results, the EE181 should be recalibrated annually.
This featured product was part of the Aconcagua expedition to install a weather station on South America’s tallest peak. Learn more about the expedition on our Extreme Application Series: Aconcagua page.

Common Accessories
(3)EE181CBL
Cable for the EE181
The EE181CBL is a cable for the EE181 Temperature and Relative Humidity Probe. One end of the cable is fitted with a connector for sensor attachment. The connector has a 316L marine-grade stainless-steel knurl to resist corrosion in coastal and other harsh environments. The other end of the cable either terminates in stripped and tinned leads or is fitted with a connector for our prewired enclosures.
OrderableRAD10E
10-Plate Solar Radiation Shield for Larger Sensors
When exposed to sunlight, the EE181 must be housed in a radiation shield. One RAD10E is needed per EE181. The RAD10E is attached to a Campbell Scientific crossarm or mast. The RAD10E uses a double-louvered design that offers improved sensor protection from driving rain, snow, and insect intrusion.
Orderable39123
DIN Rail Terminal Kit with 2 Terminals and 5 Wires
The 39123 provides the needed DIN rail terminals, separator, and wires to connect any product to a data logger or other peripheral that requires five wires for connection. This kit provides the following wires: black, light blue, red, yellow, and clear. The color-coding of these wires matches the wire coloring of the product for ease in connection, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

(2)41003-5
10-Plate Solar Radiation Shield
The 41003-5 is a naturally aspirated 10-plate radiation shield. Its louvered construction allows air to pass freely through the shield, keeping the probe at or near ambient temperature.
Orderable15823
Hex Plug for HMP45C or EE181
The 15823 is a compression fitting that is used to mount an EE181 or an HMP45C Temperature and Relative Humidity Probe in a 41003-5 10-Plate Solar Radiation Shield.

Sensor Mounts
When exposed to sunlight, the EE181 must be housed in a 10-plate solar radiation shield. Campbell Scientific recommends the MetSpec RAD10E, which uses a double-louvered design that offers improved sensor protection from driving rain, snow, and insect intrusion. This shield also has lower self-heating in bright sunlight combined with higher temperatures (> 24°C [~75°F]) and low wind speeds (< 2 m s-1 [~4.5 mph]), giving a better measurement.
The EE181 will work with R. M. Young 10-plate radiation shields (41003-5 or 41003-5A), but these shields require a special adapter (pn 28415) to accommodate the sensor girth.
The RAD10E and 41003-5 attach to a crossarm, mast, or user-supplied pipe with a 2.5 to 5.3 cm (1.0 to 2.1 in.) outer diameter. The 41003-5A radiation shield attaches to a CM500-series pole or a user-supplied pole with a 5.1 cm (2.4 in.) outer diameter.
