Overview
The 014A, manufactured by Met One, is a three-cup anemometer that monitors wind speed for the range of 0 to 45 m/s with a threshold of 0.45 m/s. You connect the 014A directly to a Campbell Scientific data logger, which measures the anemometer's pulse signal and converts the signal to engineering units (mph, m/s, knots).

Technical Description
The 014A is constructed of corrosion-resistant, stainless-steel and anodized aluminum. It's three-cup anemometer assembly contains a sealed magnetic reed switch. Rotation of the cupwheel produces a pulse that is directly proportional to wind speed.

Right-Angle Mounting Kit
The CM221 mounts a pipe or tube at 90° to another pipe or tube. It is typically used to attach a sensor with a vertical pipe (including most wind sensors) to a crossarm. The cast aluminum, right-angle mounting bracket has 3.8 cm (1.5 in.) U-bolts and hardware and will accommodate tubing with a 1- to 1.5-in. outer diameter.

Replacement Cable for 014A Anemometer
The 014ACBL consists of a 22 AWG cable with a Santoprene jacket and a connector for attachment to the 014A Anemometer. This cable can easily be replaced by the user.

Replacement Reed Switch for 014A
The 1184 Reed Switch is difficult to replace without breaking it. Factory repair is recommended; request an RMA from Campbell Scientific.

The 16901 turret label is easily replaced by the customer. This label serves to repel water and is placed over the small access hole in the turret to reduce ingress by water.

Replacement Bearing for the 034B, 014A, or 034A (two required)
Two of the 3648 bearings are required. They are difficult to replace without shattering the adjacent reed switch. Factory repair is recommended; request an RMA from Campbell Scientific. The bearings are also available from Met One as p/n A1898.

Mounting
The 014A attaches to a Campbell Scientific crossarm using a 1049 Nu-Rail fitting or CM220 Right Angle Mounting Bracket. It also can be attached to the top of our CM110, CM115, and CM120 stainless-steel tripods using the CM216 Sensor Mounting Kit.
Data Logger Considerations
The 014A uses one pulse count channel on the data logger.
Programming
The 014A is read by the PulseCount Instruction in CRBasic and by Instruction 3 (Pulse Count) in Edlog. Wind speed measurements can be taken and processed with any of the data loggers.
